Computer woes

A couple of weeks ago, my computer informed me that the hard drive was failing. That began a frantic time of backing up files on an external hard drive before the main hard drive went kaput.
Then, we (computer science major son and I) tried to recreate the old hard drive's info on a new hard drive on the same computer, thinking that we could clean up the corrupted files. Wrong.
The last step, yesterday, was buying a new computer. (Some excitement there.) Of course, the new computer has Windows Vista, versus the old one's Windows XP. Now we're laboriously loading old uncorrupted files onto the new computer. Of course, all the old hardware and software programs are incompatible with Vista. That means going online and...well, you get the picture.
Meanwhile, I've got a backlog of cels to put up, once I get an updated video program for screencapping.
Today I spent the afternoon getting my scanner updated, and finally put up my first offering in weeks - a rilezu that didn't need a screencap. It only took me about five hours to get the downloads, and then figure out (1) why the scanner wouldn't work, and once that was solved, (2) how the scanning process would work in Vista.
Computers are wonderful things until they go bust.

Last June, I bought a cel of Ai (Video Girl Ai) in the shower from a US dealer. It didn't have an accompanying douga. So when I saw a douga on Yahoo Japan that looked like my cel (couldn't see the cel number), I took a chance and went for it.
Well, it arrived today, and it is the correct one for the cel. I feel like a matchmaker - or maybe a marriage counselor - putting back together a pair that had been separated for awhile.
